AN INTERVIEW WITH SHLOMO:
Shlomo is a 45-year-old married Orthodox Jew living in New York City. He has six children. The below is crafted to provide a typical conversation with one of Kosher World Reserve’s summer vacation planning experts.
Shlomo: I want to plan something special and different for my family this summer. In the past few years, I have gone on various kinds of vacations. Sometimes I have stayed at hotels without any organized kosher food meals, so we ate at the local kosher restaurant or cooked simple meals in our hotel room. At other times, we stayed at all-inclusive resorts that served kosher meals. An example is our last Passover getaway. So, my question is, are there other vacation options that you can recommend that are different and better, even if more expensive?
World Reserve Travel Expert: Well Shlomo. Let's first discuss the pros and cons of the above conventional types of vacations you have gone on, and then see if we can effectively address the cons. So, what cons were there when you stayed at hotels without any organized kosher meals?
Shlomo: First, I’ll say that the advantage of the hotel vacation is that we had more privacy than on organized resort vacations. The disadvantage was that food planning was often too timely, and the experience was not always as expected. We sometimes had to travel long distances to the restaurant, and we weren’t always satisfied with the results. And the waiting time to get seated and served at some of the most popular restaurants sometimes tested our patience. And as for resorts…hmmm…well, as implied above, the good thing is that we got organized kosher meals. The downside, as mentioned, was the lack of privacy -for example, eating in a big hall with so many people. I wish we had more privacy so the family could eat a meal and talk with each other without everyone getting so distracted by all the people around them. You know, it's hard to have a real discussion that unites the family. Maybe I am just asking for too much. Am I?
World Reserve Travel Expert: Shlomo, I hear you. No, you are not asking for too much. If I can summarize your previous vacations, hotel stays have the advantage of privacy, but kosher food planning is an issue, while organized resort vacations have the advantage of available kosher food but lack privacy. It seems like a tradeoff, but you CAN have them both - that is - you can have good quality kosher food available when you want it while still having complete privacy for a private family vacation. The vacation solution that provides the above is to stay at your own private luxury villa with your own private kosher chef!
Shlomo: Wow! Privacy and great kosher food! But isn’t that just for multi-millionaires?
World Reserve Travel Expert: Before addressing the costs, let me tell you what kind of dream vacation you would have. You would have your own private luxury villa at the dream destination of your choice. Real privacy for your family or even for an extended family. Most of them have beautiful views, often of the ocean. Private pools solve so many halachic issues . And the private chef. Well, he or she the dishes that you agreed to - your favorites- you know that you will delight in delicious meals in privacy with your family, served by a top kosher chef. Now, is that not a dream vacation - the vacation that your family will always remember and talk about?
Shlomo: But say we wanted to rent a villa in a very remote location with no kosher food stores around for hundreds or even thousands of miles. How would we get kosher food? That’s impossible...right?
World Reserve Travel Expert: I am happy you asked that question. Our kosher chef will take care of all the logistical details. If he has to travel, say, two hundred miles to the closest high quality strictly kosher food supplier in the capital city, he will do that. If the only solution is to get all the supplies shipped in coolers from the U.S., he will do that as well. He will also kosherize the kitchen according to Halacha, making sure all laws of kashrut are followed so you can just relax and enjoy yourselves. And the cherry on the cake? Your kosher chef will not only prepare your favorite dishes but also serve them to you in style while you are seated like royalty
Shlomo: And the cost……?
World Reserve Travel Expert: I was getting to that. As I mentioned, you don’t need to be a millionaire to organize a dream vacation like this. The villas vary in price - some of them are very expensive - not for everybody, while others are a pretty good deal comparable to luxury hotel rates when you consider the fact that a typical family of say seven people will have to rent at least two hotel rooms. In addition, the villas often come with over 7 bedrooms, which means much more comfort and privacy. Parents will have their own private master bedroom, and kids will complain less when they have extra space to rest and play. And you can share the price if you go with an extended family. The only real thing that will make the trip more expensive is if you opt for your own private kosher chef. But if you can afford it - it’s the thing that will transform your vacation from a luxurious vacation into a super luxurious ‘royal’ vacation - where you will feel…well… like royalty. And to be honest, the cost of the private chef is not so extreme, we can set it up at a reasonable price. We will also make sure the villa kitchen is kosherized.
Shlomo: Very interesting… let's talk more.
World Reserve Travel Expert: My pleasure World Reserve offers luxury private kosher villas with chefs at the dream destination of your choice, taking care of logistics, kashrut, chef, and other details to make your dream a reality.
